Welcome to my campaign

My pledge, if you allow me to represent you.
* I will advocate for programs that promote clean water, clean air and a healthy environment for future generations. Read MORE

* Regarding fossil fuels in Whatcom: I will approve no project that is shown to be harmful to our citizens and environment. I believe that Cherry Point is Lummi Nation territory and whatever industry that wants to build at Cherry Point should go through the Lummi Nation before the county gets involved. MORE

* I would not support a mega jail or any project that is not cost-effective and in the best interest of the people it is meant to serve. Housing the homeless and providing people with mental health services is more effective and costs less than putting them in jail. MORE

* I will always support projects that will enhance the lives of the less fortunate and those without a voice, over projects that only profit large corporations.  MORE

* I will encourage and support buying local and increasing business opportunities in our county that promote sustainable well paying jobs such as jobs in the solar, wind and hemp industries. MORE

* I will actively solicit and listen to your concerns and will consider all consequences when formulating my opinions and decisions.

* I will always respect and honor Native American treaties..MORE

Why am I running to represent you on Whatcom County Council?

I had been thinking about it for a few years but once Bernie Sanders dropped out and left the revolution to us, I knew I had to take action.

I decided that after 37 years of being  a Social Worker and 13 recent years of working on different political campaigns and issues in Whatcom County, that is was time to step up.
I believe that we already have a pretty good council but it is missing some pieces that I could fill. I am a woman.  Although nobody should vote for me just because I am female, I do think the council could use more female representation.

I am a social worker. I do not think the council has any representation from that viewpoint to see how the policies and programs designed to help people either help or hinder them on a basic practical level.

I am a progressive and I make no apologies about being that. I think we must take care of the planet now or it will be too late.  I think we must take care of our indigent, our children and our elderly because that is the right thing to do.

I have lived in the county and now the city and I can see how the 2 often see problems from different perspectives. I believe that I have the right skill set to work with all kinds of people, the intelligence to be a quick learner as there is an enormous amount of material to learn, and the wisdom to know that we can't always get what we want.

But if we try sometime, we just might find, we can get what we need. I know, I stole that line from The Rolling Stones.
Join me in developing a platform that will be good for people and the environment.
